Below are commonly asked questions about our Cornwall and Dartmoor Walking Tours which hopefully will help you planning your holiday with us. We offer a personal approach and understand that everyone has different requirements so please do get in contact with us even if you just want to have a chat to get to know us and what we offer. You can also submit questions directly over the web using the question gadget at the bottom of this page.
How physically fit should I be to join this tour?
Our hiking tours require our guests to be in good health and physically
capable of walking at least 5 miles a day at an average speed of 2.5 miles
an hour on mixed terrain. The walks will include some steep climbs especially
around the coast path. At various points of the tour alternative options
may be available for those who would prefer not to walk on.
Can you accommodate medical conditions/allergies e.g.animal allergies,
heart problems, diabetic, vertigo issues?
We need to fully understand anything which may affect you whilst you are
travelling with us in order that we are adequately prepared for them. We
will require advance detailed information on the booking form please.
How large are the Groups?
Our groups average between 6-12 people.
Will I feel welcome as a single traveller?
Absolutely. Our walks offer the perfect set up for singles, couples and
groups. Certainly for the morning and evening meals, we shall eat together
which makes for a convivial atmosphere.
What equipment should I bring with me?
Walking boots (preferably worn in), waterproof jacket, walking trousers/shorts,
rucksack, walking poles (recommended), walking socks, walking tshirt/shirts,
warm fleece. Other things to possibly include on packing list, sun cream,
sun hat, binoculars, camera and mobile phone.
How do you ensure the quality of your guided walking tours?
Every single aspect of your holiday is personally researched and put in
place by ourselves in order to ensure that we exceed all expectations of
our guests needs. This continues whilst you are with us on your tour as
we will be your personal guides throughout.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes – generally all dietary requirements can be catered for with advance
notice. Please let us know on the booking form any special requests or requirements
you may have. Whilst dietary restrictions provide limitations we would appreciate
you being as specific as possible in order that you can still join in the
celebration of the Cornish food and drink. If you are vegetarian, please
confirm to what extent that you do not eat meats, fish, dairy produce and
preferred possible alternatives. We can then provide this information to
our chefs at the respective hotels for a specially tailored menu.
What is the accommodation like?
We are staying in two exclusive country estates that have been chosen for
their unique locations, outstanding English quality, staff and historical
interest. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a combination of large
twin and double beds. In-house facilities also include a bar, library, Wifi
access, telephones, television, tea and coffee facilities, hair dryers,
towels, robes, slippers, toiletries, irons and by prior personal arrangement,
laundry and drying facilities.
What does the price include?
The tour price includes all hotel accommodation, all breakfasts and evening
meals, transport used throughout the tour including the minibus and ferries,
tour entry fees to a variety of museums, castles and gardens.
Are there additional costs?
The tour does not include the cost of air or rail fares to and from the
collection/departure points, lunches, beverages, or personal independent
travel or activities.
How do I make a reservation?
To make a reservation, simply email, call us or complete the online form.
We will send you full details and ask you to pay a 25% reservation deposit
on booking. We accept payments by credit card, international transfer, bankers
draft and some personal cheques.
Should I buy Travel Insurance?
We strongly advise you plan some travel insurance when booking your tour.
This should give you cover for any unexpected illness, accident or crisis
that could possibly force you to cancel your holiday plans. A variety of
agents can provide all the further information you will require.
What are your payment terms?
We will require a deposit payment of 25% of the tour price. Final balance
payment will then be due 6 weeks prior to the tour start date. All client
prepayments are protected for your peace of mind and to comply with UK law.
What is the weather like?
Cornwall has the mildest climate in the UK but is changeable depending on
wind direction and you could find day temperatures on average ranging from
54F/12C to 77F/25C. Whilst we hope that the English sunshine will beat down
on us, the weather is most likely to be mixed so please take heed of the
list of what to pack - waterproofs will be essential.
Can you help planning travel in England?
We would be more than happy to assist with your planning of travel generally
in and around England and will provide you with more detailed information
about collection/departure points. To avoid problems of possible flight
delays and/or jet lag, we suggest arriving in England at least a day or
two prior to the tour start date. Please note that a valid passport will
be required for your trip to the UK.
